shooting for me
I was leaving the Criminal Courts Building in Chicago this afternoon when I walked past a rally that area Hispanics were having in hopes of securing more summer jobs for the youth of their communities.
Earlier I had seen fellow Trib staffer Phil Velasquez shooting the event so I knew there was no need for me to cover it. However, as I walked past I caught sight of a sleeping child illuminated by a shaft of sunlight. I couldn’t just walk past such a sweet photo so I worked it for a bit until I came up with a shot I liked.
As I edited the pix back at the paper, I noticed that in addition to the sleeping girl in the foreground, a couple of the pictures had a sleeping boy in the background, too. I never saw him while I was shooting, just a lucky accident.
This is one reason that I love having this blog. Now I have an outlet for stuff like this.
