I have been agonizing at home for the past week as the White Sox and the Twins have been taking turns trying to let each other win the American League Central Division title.
After being swept in Minnesota, the White Sox came home only to lose two out of three to Cleveland. Luckily, the Twins did some choking of their own losing two of three to Kansas City in the Metrodome.
All that set up Monday’s make-up game against Detroit. The White Sox needed to beat the Tigers to set up a one-game playoff against the Twins Tuesday at “The Cell”.
The game was a 2-2 taffy pull until the bottom of the 6th when rookie phenom Alexei Ramirez hit his 4th grand slam of the season giving the 2005 World Champs a lead that they would never relinquish.
I didn’t show up today until the 4th inning. My job was to shoot fan features in case the Sox would lose.
In the bottom of the 6th inning I was shooting a group of fans with a 70-200 zoom from the 500 level of US Cellular Field when I decided to shoot Ramirez during his at bat with the bases loaded.
As it turned out, this was the only action I shot all game.
