words on wheels

Last night I was sent over to the Museum of Contemporary Art aka “If that’s art, I’m the Pope” Museum.

OK…I guess I am not that closed-minded about modern art but I still was a bit skeptical when I found out that the assignment was to photograph a projection by American artist Jenny Holzer of Wislawa Szymborska’s translated poems scrolling up the front of the MCA.

As the projection began I hurried around looking for an interesting image to quickly transmit back to the Trib for the Live section’s early deadline. Once that task was done I continued shooting for fun.

The longer I stayed the cooler I thought the illumination was.

What especially captivated me was the traffic driving past the museum and through the words. I worked the traffic for over an hour and came up with a selection of images that I really enjoyed making.
