2nd degree burns

In November 2002, I visited Harlow and Jean Cagwin at their new home in Ashkum, Illinois. On that day, Jean was burning Harlow’s old work clothes as the couple transitioned from a life of labor to a life of leisure.

Tonight, six years later, I stopped by Ed and Amanda Grabenhofer’s home, on the land that the Cagwins once farmed, for an outdoor party during the Chicago Bears’ Sunday night game against the Minnesota Vikings.

During half time of the Bears’ 34-14 loss, Ed tried to change the luck of his favorite team by burning his Bears’ jersey in a fire in his driveway.

  2. You are very good at these diptychs. Both very strong in their own right. Who doesn’t love fire too.
