One of the great advantages of living out on the edge of Chicagoland is the easy access to the hundreds of small rural towns that dot the landscape south and west of my home.
After our Friday hike, Anna and I explored the greater LaSalle/Peru area along the Illinois River.
It was fun visiting places we had never heard of but it was also sad to see the depressed nature of many of the towns. It would be amazing to go back in time and see these tiny burgs at their height of prosperity.
Despite the rundown structures, there was still plenty of beauty to be found like this building in LaSalle.
