One of the strangest chapters in the history of Illinois politics came to an even more bizarre close tonight in a Chicago sports bar at halftime of the Super Bowl.
At the urging of party leaders, Scott Lee Cohen, the controversial democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor dropped out of the election.
As The Who played on a bank of televisions, Cohen, surrounded by his two sons, his fiancee and her son, sat at a table in the corner of the Hop Haus beer garden and uttered a tearful farewell.
