One of the best rivalries in sports is the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings.
The Red Wings have dominated over the past 15 or so years but this year has been a different story.
Beset by injuries, Detroit is in unfamiliar territory- 3rd place in the division and 8th in the conference. While the young and exciting Blackhawks are in 1st place and near the top of the NHL.
However, an eventual playoff match-up between Chicago and Detroit is looming and the Hawks know to truly earn the Stanley Cup, they will have to defeat the Wings.
On Sunday, the Hawks scored the first and last two goals of the game but were defeated by Detroit’s 5 goal outburst in the 2nd period.
The Hawks hold a 3-2 season edge with one game to go in Chicago on the last day of the regular season.
