My sister-in-law Sara and her 14-month-old son Hugo have traveled from Stockholm to our home for a visit.

Whenever I speak to Hugo, he gives me this look and I imagine him thinking- “Hey stupid! I’m Swedish and I don’t have a clue what you are saying. ” But, of course, he thinks that in Swedish.

  1. With Hugo being Swedish, he’s probably already fluent in English and thinks more along the lines of “Hey uncle Scott, how about some candy?”

  2. My cousin Isak used to treat me the same way. All I ever figured out from the little-Swedish-kid-rants was that he thought I looked like a pirate, and that he didn’t like me calling him “little Viking boy.”
